10.15 am passed and as no one but Simon Taylor had turned up in ‘Gemini’
we headed off leaving Lauren and Anita to go ‘shopping’!
We headed off towards the entrance to Brisbane Waters and Lobster Beach
via the many sandbars which litter this area, a quick fly by at Lobster
beach and we decided to make this day more interesting. Our first stop
was back up stream towards Gosford Harbour and the local Coastal Patrol,
there we took a look at their new Turbo Diesel 320hp Hamilton Jet (241
unit) Rescue boat and also the local fire brigades Hamilton Jet powered
‘launch’, cable of carrying a vehicle! We hope to test drive the new
rescue boat shortly.
Simon hurtles through the narrow spit
in 4 inches of water!

A quick detour to negotiate a favorite sand spit and we meet up with
a fellow jet boater in his 14 ft 175hp V6. After a small chat we decided
to show him what jet boating was all about and we all took turns at
negotiating the sand spit. Needless to say the grin on this guys face
was HUGE as he explored (and reached!) the limits of his jet boat. I
am sure we are now gaining a new member!
Gemini at full noise as it negotiates the tight
bends and sandy bottom of Narara Creek
As the tide
was nearing high this gave us access to the rocky entrance of Narara
Creek. Some cunning navigation for the first kilometer or so and we
were soon in the confines of the creek and heading up stream. We negotiated
many sunken/hidden logs and also hit a few we could not see. After what
seemed like an eternity we eventually could boat any further and prepared
for the return journey, trying to remember the location of all the obstacles.
In all we amassed just over 3 hours of great boating on the hour meter,
exploring the many jet boating friendly waters Gosford has to offer.
It was an excellent days boating packed with warm weather, excitement
and plenty of doughnuts! – you all missed out Big Time!
