NZJBA Inc was established in 1962 and renamed as Jetboating New Zealand in 2002. The association has nine branches covering New Zealand and with over 2000 members it represents about a third of NZ's jetboaters. The associations objectives are:

To co-ordinate jet boating on a National basis
To encourage safe jet boating principles and practices
To promote and protect the rights of jet boaters and Jet Boating New Zealand Inc.
To establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other water users.
